Conference Review | The Fifth International Conference on the Future Rule of Law and Digital Law Successfully Held

From November 2 to 3, 2024, the Fifth International Conference on the Future Rule of Law and Digital Law was successfully held. The conference was hosted by the Renmin University of China Law School, the Jilin University Theoretical Law Research Center, and the JD Group, and hosted by the Renmin Law and Technology Institute, the Centre for Jurisprudence Research of Jilin University, the JD Legal Research Institute, and  the Collaborative Innovation Center for Judicial CivilizationMore than 200 experts and scholars from legislative bodies, administrative agencies, courts, universities, research institutions, and enterprises, both domestic and international, attended the conference in person.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Huang Wenyi of the Renmin University of China Law School and Editor-in-Chief of China Legal Science. Delivering speeches at the ceremony were Jiang Wei, Vice President of the China Law Society, President of the Cyber and Information Law Society of China, and Deputy Director of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme People's Court; Zheng Shuiquan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Renmin University of China; Han Xiping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Jilin University; Hu Huangang, Vice President of JD Group; and Wang Yi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of People's Public Security University of China.

The conference was divided into six units: Keynote Speeches, Dean's Forum, Theoretical Development of Digital Law, Frontier Exploration of Future Rule of Law, Development of the Digital Economy and Legal Safeguards, and Digital Platforms and AI Governance. More than seventy experts and scholars from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and other countries and regions participated in the discussions of each unit. Finally, the conference was presided over by Professor Ding Xiaodong of the Renmin University of China Law School and Deputy Director of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute. Concluding speeches were delivered by Associate Professor Zhang Jiyu of the Renmin University of China Law School and Executive Director of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute; Professor Liu Hongzhen of the Jilin University Law School and Deputy Director of the Theoretical Law Research Center; and Li Li, Executive Director of the JD Group Law Institute. The conference concluded successfully.
