About the Author

Zheng Weiwei is an associate professor at the Renmin Law School, a doctor of law, a deputy director of the Development Planning Department of Renmin University of China (hanging position), a researcher at the Renmin Law and Technology Institute, and the director of the Research Centre for Cross-border Flow of Data and Extraterritorial Online Dispute Resolution of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute.

Her research fields include private international law, international commercial law, comparative law, international commercial litigation and online dispute resolution mechanism research.

She has published many papers with significant academic impact in journals such as Law and Social Development,Contemporary Law Review, and  Peking University Law Journal, and is the author of a monograph in Chinese and a co-author in English.

Content Introduction

From the perspective of theories and rules related to the ODR mechanism as well as overseas practical experiences, this publication analyzes in depth the history and development of the ODR mechanism, focusing on five areas where the ODR mechanism has been introduced to resolve disputes and prevent disputes, namely B2C e-commerce, infringement, intellectual property rights, financial consumption and China's "smart courts". It also discusses some general theoretical and institutional issues that need to be faced and resolved in the process of its construction.
