Lecture Review | Anupam Chander:The Global Race to Regulate AI
time:2024-10-08On the morning of September 25, 2024, Professor Anupam Chander, the professor at the Georgetown University Law Center and founding member of the International Association of Digital Law, was invited by the Renmin Law and Technology Institute and the Center for Digital Legal Studies at the Law School,to deliver a keynote speech at the 'Global Honorary Chair Series Lectures' of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute and the 'Digital Law Lecture Series' of the Center for Digital Legal Studies at the Law School.Professor Chander’s speech, titled ‘The Global AI Regulation Race’, focused on the key role law plays in promoting or hindering innovation, the evolution of EU AI legal regulation, and a deep analysis of the unique role of intellectual property law and privacy law in regulating generative AI, starting with the observation that ’AI regulation should be informed by the broader context of internet regulation.‘
The lecture was attended by Madhavi Sunder, a professor at the Georgetown University Law Center,Zhang Jiyu, an associate professor at the School of Law at Renmin University of China and the executive director of theRenmin Law and Technology Institute,Ding Xiaodong,a professor at the School of Law at Renmin University of China and deputy director of theRenmin Law and Technology,Yu Wenguang, an associate professor at the School of Law at Renmin University of China,Liu Yang,an assistant professor at the School of Law at Renmin University of China. The lecture was moderated by Professor Ding Xiaodong.
