Conference Review | The Fourth International Conference on the Future Rule of Law and Digital Law Successfully Held
time:2023-12-20From December 16 to 17, 2023, the Fourth International Conference on the Future Rule of Law and Digital Law was successfully held, hosted by the Law School of Renmin University of China and JD Group, and organized by the Renmin Law and Technology Institute, Teaching and Research Center for Digital Law of Renmin University of China Law School, and the JD Legal Research Institute. More than 200 experts and scholars from legislative bodies, administrative agencies, courts, universities, research institutions, and enterprises from both China and abroad attended the conference on site, with tens of thousands of viewers watching the forum online.
The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Wang Yi, Vice President of Renmin University of China and Dean of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute. Speeches were delivered at the opening ceremony by Professor Lin Shangli, President of Renmin University of China; Jiang Wei, Vice President of the China Law Society, President of China Law Society Cyber and Information Law Society, and Deputy Director of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme People's Court; and Hu Huangang, Head of the Legal Compliance and Intellectual Property Department of JD Group and Vice President of JD Group.
At this conference, the founding ceremony of the International Digital Law Association was held. Professor Du Huanfang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the Law School of Renmin University of China, presided over the founding ceremony. Vice President Wang Yi introduced the association and its members and announced the official establishment of the International Digital Law Association. Professor Zhang Wenxian, Director of the Academic Committee of the China Law Society and Senior Professor of Philosophy and Social Sciences at Jilin University, and Professor Viktor Mayer-Schönberger of the Oxford Internet Institute delivered video speeches as representatives of the association's members.
The conference was divided into six units: Keynote Speeches, Dean's Roundtable Forum, Future Rule of Law and Technology Openness & “Green Supply Chain Technology Sharing Platform” Launch Ceremony, International Perspectives on Future Rule of Law, Platform Governance and Fair Competition, and Data and AI Governance. More than seventy experts and scholars from China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Brazil, and other countries and regions participated in the discussions of each session.
Finally, the conference was moderated by Zhang Jiyu, Associate Professor at the Law School of Renmin University of China and Executive Dean of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute. Concluding speeches were delivered by Professor Ding Xiaodong of the Law School of Renmin University of China and Vice Dean of the Renmin Law and Technology Institute; Li Li, Executive Dean of the JD Legal Research Institute; and Professor Huang Wenyi, Dean of the Law School of Renmin University of China. The forum concluded successfully.
