The Renmin Law and Technology Institute has established a series of research centers based on the current key issues, the research plans and personal inclinations of the researchers in order to form a better focus on the research subjects, to further strengthen the contribution of Law School of Renmin University of China on the researches in relevant legal fields.

Center for Fin-Tech and Cyber Security Director: YANG Dong | The Center aims to create high-level and professional financial technology and think tank to support the development of the industry, and to set up a platform for financial technology and the innovative cooperation system of “government, industry, research and investment”. |
Center for Digital Economy and Competition Law Director: MENG Yanbei | While focusing on the difficult issues in legislation, theory and practice of competition, the Center will explore the logic of industrial regulations and the variable and the invariable of legal regulations in the context of digital economy, and will focus on the theoretical challenges brought by the digital economy to competition law. |
Center for Social Responsibility and Governance Director: GUO Rui | The center will a) carry out research on science and technology development and social responsibility; b) promote the establishment and expansion of social responsibility of scientific and technological enterprises; c) promote the expansion of the rights of handicapped in the light of new technology, including holding “Disability, Technology and Future Rule of Law” forum; d) conduct research on ethics and legal regulation of artificial intelligence and promote research on financial regulation in the context of new technology. |
Center for Data Rights Director: DENG Jinting | The center will conduct research and international communication about the legal issues in privacy protection and the governance of data circulation, and will bring forward a series of English and Chinese articles to enhance China’s international influence on relevant researches and regulations. |
Center for the Governance of Platforms Director: Xiong Bingwan | The Center is committed to in-depth study of online platform in terms of economic and legal attributes, organization and operational rules, as well as supervision and trading regulations, and provides in-depth, cutting-edge opinions and suggestions to business elites and government officials in this field. |
Center for Law on Automated Driving Director: WANG Ying | The Center, in conjunction with the Institute of Robotics at the University of Würzburg, Germany, and the Digital Research Center in Munich, Germany, is dedicated to the research on legal risk regulation of autonomous driving, in order to respond to the challenges posed by autonomous driving technology to traffic risk regulation and traditional liability theory, and will explore new risk regulation tools and provide legal solutions for the commercial use of high-level autonomous driving technology in the future. |
Center for Judicial Data Governance and Quantitative Application Director: CHENG Lei | Based on judicial practice, using modern information technology such as big data and artificial intelligence, we can maximize the potential of judicial data, give full play to the effectiveness of judicial data, provide support for the improvement of informationized and intelligent judicial working mechanism, and support the construction of a higher level f socialist judicial civilization. |
Center for Ease of Doing Business and Commercial Law Director: WU Zhicheng | The Center aims at researching issues in the laws of trust, company, property and unjust enrichment from a high-profile perspective, namely, ease of doing business, in combination of blockchain, smart contract, and e-conveyancing. The Center specifically focuses on three EODB methodologies: protecting minority investors, registering property, and getting credit. |

Center for Cross-Border Data Transfer and Online Dispute Resolution Director: ZHENG Weiwei | The Center conducts research on data ownership, international collaboration and data supervision, as well as extraterritorial online dispute resolution(ODR). |
Center for International Cyberspace Governance Director: ZHANG Wenliang | The center is dedicated to the research on international governance of cyberspace from different dimensions and levels in the new era, providing intellectual support for international governance of cyberspace in China. |
Center for Global Law and Strategy Director: LIU Yang | The world political economy is under transformation driven by new technologies. It calls for thinkings on law and strategy with a global vision. The Institute for Global Law and Strategy (IGLS) at Renmin Law and Technology Institute serves as an academic hub for quantitative and qualitative researches on international law and foreign relations law, as well as methodological development and dataset building. |

Center for Intelligent Technology and Online Dispute Resolution Director: PENG Xiaolong | The Center pays attention to the dispute resolution in the digital age and will carry out research on online dispute resolution, big data and dispute resolution as well as AI and dispute resolution by means of combining the current technological development and future trends. |
Center for Smart Law Tech Innovation Director: LIU Pinxin | The Center focuses on big data and artificial intelligence in the field of law. It will publish a series of articles and apply for patents, as well as set up courses on big data and smart law to cultivate interdisciplinary talents. |
